Windows Live Writer now with more Fun!

Really I should say now with more “funny”.  I recently blogged about my favorite feature that no one talks ever talks about for Windows Live Writer.  I am happy to write that we have another video hosting site you can use from the comedians/actors Will Ferrell, Judd Apatow, Adam McKay, and Chris Henchy.  This feature addition was done by one of the testers on my team so everyone can thank Ron for this addition to Live Writer.  I had been hoping to have this released as part of the Wave 4 beta but it is out before that and in the case you can use it today with Wave 3.  Also now that WordPress 3.0 is out and has support for this hosting site we knew that Live Writer users will want it also and want it now.  Just to be clear however is that will work with any server you can publish to with Live Writer.

Starting today try starting Live Writer when your machine is connected to the internet.  Exit Live Writer and then start it again. At this point if you type a URL from http://www.funnyordie.com it will now also expand to be a video!  I should note that this will not work with the short URLs that they make easy to copy on the FOD site.  You have to use the long version of the URL but since it will convert it to a video we hope it is worth a little more work to get that version of the URL on FOD.

Note: If FOD does not work, try Check For Updates from the Help menu while connected to the internet and in the case you do NOT have to install an update to get this feature but you really should install a new build if available for general updates we have made in Live Writer.
